The Salisbury YMCA is not your average Hong Kong hostel - it is more like a hotel that happens to be part of the Hong Kong YMCA complex in Kowloon. Right behind the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the hostel is only a short walk to the harbour. The prices are always higher than the cheap beds you might find along Nathan Road, but these beds come with perks those other hostels could never hope to promise. Perhaps the best thing about The Salisbury YMCA is that if you are willing to pay a bit extra, you can even enjoy a room with a view of Victoria Harbour.
In addition to the dorm style rooms at The Salisbury YMCA, there are also many choices for private rooms, too. Each dorm room has only two bunk beds, so sleeps up to four people, making them comfortable and not crowded. The dorm rooms also have their own en suite bathrooms. For private rooms, there are singles and doubles and family suites, some with beautiful views of the harbour and all with private en suite bathrooms. These rooms look and feel like hotel rooms, not hostel rooms, and are all spacious and clean.
Some of the amenities you will find at The Salisbury YMCA are:
You could easily find a cheaper room in Hong Kong than The Salisbury YMCA, and most of them would be perfectly fine. If, however, you are in the mood to splurge just a little bit on your bed, this is a great place to do it. It is an especially good deal if you are traveling as a group or family, where the perks of this place really make it worthwhile. You might not be in Hong Kong to practice on the indoor rock climbing wall, but why not give it a go while you are here?
The Salisbury YMCA might be close to Nathan Road, but it is miles away in terms of quality. This is place to experience a bit of luxury at a budget price.
